STARS: TWO TEAMS GOING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS

The B team travelled to Rochester  for a midweek game and had a tough time with Maksymum. Two goals from Marko Novosel and another from Bill Kent gave the Stars a 3-2 lead after two periods. In the third period Maksymum came up with two goals and shut down the Stars offense to earn a hard fought 4-3 win over the Stars.

The B team came home to play Buffalo looking to overtake them in the league’s standings with the beginning of a four game series. Saturday’s game had four different players scoring to down Buffalo 4-3. Syracuse got on the board early in the first period on a goal from Andrew Kremer. Buffalo tied the game on Danny Potter's goal late in the period. Syracuse then built up a 3-1 lead in the second period on goals from Marko Novosel and a power play goal from Myles Gaines. Buffalo's Anthony Russell made it a 3-2 game with six minutes remaining in the second. Syracuse's Zach O'Mara then made it a two goal lead with his goal at 15:48. Buffalo then closed out the scoring thirty seconds later on David Dvorak's goal.

Luke Alletzhauser's goal with just seventy-five seconds left in regulation proved to be the game winner on Sunday as the Stars B team defeated the Buffalo Stars 4-3. Syracuse jumped out to a two goal lead on power play goals from Marko Novosel and Zach White early into the second period. Buffalo cut the lead in half on a goal from Matt Malley with about four minutes in the second. Syracuse then regained their two goal lead on another power play goal this time from Valentin Milyukov with just over two minutes remaining before the second intermission. Buffalo then made it a game as they scored two goals midway in the third on a power play goal from Danny Potter and a goal from Joshua Smith to tie the game before the heroics from Alletzhauser.

With the two wins over Buffalo and a Maksymum loss to Philadelphia the Stars B team vaulted their way into fourth place with an 11-8-1 record. This weekend the two teams resume their series as the action moves down the Thurway to Buffalo.

The Stars A team continue on their nine game road trip as they travelled to Foxboro, MA to play a weekend series against the South Shore Kings. The Stars who have been hit hard with injuries this season have still been able to maintain second place in the standings. The road has not been very friendly to the Stars as they head into the Kings series on a 3 game losing streak. South Shore showed the Stars why they have the second best record in the EJHL. The Kings had very little trouble with the Stars giving up only one goal from Ryan Farnan in the two games as they swept the Stars 3-0 and 4-1. Despite the two losses the Stars are still in second place (9-8-2-2) but are now tied with the Boston Jr. Bruins with 22 points. The Stars along with the EJHL take a well deserve holiday break with game action resuming the first weekend in December. When action resumes the Stars continue on the road traveling to Philadelphia for two games.
