Stars' Ford Commits to Harvard University
Syracuse Stars defenseman Dan Ford has committed to Harvard University for the fall of 2009. Ford, who’s in his second season with the Stars’ Junior program, was very excited to have made his decision.
”It's a dream come true to play Division I hockey in the ECAC for Harvard University. Both the academic environment and hockey program at Harvard, as well as going to school in the Boston area, is a perfect fit for me. My teammates and coaches with the Syracuse Stars over the years have all helped to make this possible," stated Ford.
“Dan is a world class kid both on and off the ice,” said Head Coach Chris Firriolo. Not only is he the back bone of our defensive core, but as a 16 year old he took on a huge responsibility this year as one of our Captains. That says volumes about his character, maturity level and leadership skills. He has tremendous vision of the ice and is able to see things unfold two passes before a play actually develops. He has an uncanny poise and presence on the ice; he’s what we call a true ‘blue chip’ player. He’s an extremely bright individual and is going to have a very successful career at Harvard. On behalf of the Syracuse Stars we are all very proud of Dan.
Dan is the son of Steve and Patti Ford of Skaneateles, NY.
