STAR’S WILSON GETS USA NTDP CALL UP
Joe Wilson of the Syracuse Stars EJHL Jr. A hockey club got a well deserved call this afternoon. The USA U18 team needed a player and have asked Joe to join them as they will be making a swing through central NY this weekend. The U18’s will play at Utica College on Friday night, at Cornell on Saturday night and then will be at Colgate on Sunday afternoon. As Joe is a Colgate recruit for 2011 it should be a great day for him. Joe currently is leading the Stars with 15 points on 8 goals and 7 assists this season. Last year Joe was Rookie of the Year in the EJHL and has consistently been one of the top forwards on the Stars roster. The Stars Head Coach Scott Montagna and the rest of the Star’s staff know that Joe is definitely a player who can handle this. Coach Montagna commented that “Joe brings a great deal of competitiveness and effort every time he hits the ice. Whether it’s a practice or a game he is always giving 100%. You add that to his skill level and that is wht he is as successful as he is. We really look forward to seeing how Joe does this weekend as I know he will definitely be a top level Division 1 hockey player. I know I, and a lot of our players, will be there rooting for him around our games with Apple Core.” Joe is the son of Steve and Karen Wilson of Liverpool, NY. He continues to be an “A” student at Liverpool High School. Don Kirnan, Coach Montagna and all of the Stars coaches and players want to wish Joe the best of luck this weekend and congratulate him for being selected for this opportunity.
