SYRACUSE STARS GAME PREVIEW

PHILADELPHIA REVOLUTION                                         OCTOBER 1-2, 2011

OPENING WEEKEND

Players to Watch:
PHILADELPHIA - Sean Fleming (6-15-21) is not only leading the team in scoring but he is currently leading the league in scoring. Also in the league’s top 25 are Kyle Jennings (9-5-14) who is tied for 5th, and James Wallace (6-5-11) is tied for 12th. Other top scorers include Jonathan Houk (2-6-8), Ryan O’Malley (1-6-7), Joseph Kotlarczyk (2-4-6), Francis Lanni (3-1-4), and Richard Lisk (0-4-4). Goaltender Joseph Mar-shall (3-0-0; 1.76 GAA, .937 SV%) is 8th in the league.

STARS – The team has 4 players in the league’s top 25 in scoring. Jeremy Marginsky (7-7-14) is coming off a successful weekend where he scored 6 goals with 5 assists, is tied for 5th. Casie Garrison (5-8-13) is tied for 7th, and Alex Fukes (7-2-9) and Alex Brink (2-7-9) are both tied for 17th. Other leading scorers are Luke Kirwan (3-5-8), Anthony Angello (5-2-7), and Alex Tuch (2-4-6). Goaltender Matt Schneider (3-1-0; 3.01 GAA, .899 SV%) is 18th in the league.

Team Notes:
PHILADELPHIA - The Revolution bring an undefeated 5-0 record into Syracuse to take on the Stars. They have outscored their opponents 37-8.

STARS – The Stars come home with an impressive 5-1 record. The only blemish being a 4-2 loss to the Junior Bruins. With half of the team returning from last season they also have an offensive power. They have also scored 37 goals so far while giving up 14.

Stars Gazings – Former Star defenseman and Fredonia Blue Devil graduate Steve Rizer was recently named an assistant coach for Western New England University. Playing for Fredonia he was an All-American as a junior and senior. He played for the Stars during the 2005-06 season and appeared in 43 games and had 1 goal and 12 assists that year.
