The Syracuse Stars JR A Hockey Club is proud to announce that Shane Prince has signed a contract with the
Kitchener Rangers of the OHL. Shane had a tremendous training camp with the Rangers and was offered a roster spot on this years team less then 2 days into the camp. Shane was given a 4 year college package by the Rangers in his contract so his education needs will be covered.
Coach Scott Montagna stated 'We will miss having Shane on this years team but wish him the absolute best in the pursuit of his dreams. Shane and his family have put a lot of time and effort into his time with the Syracuse Stars, having played here since the Squirt Minor season. It was a 100 mile drive each way but he and his Dad Danny, (Coach Prince), put in the effort as they felt the Star's organization was the best place for Shane to be. I am sure that all that time and Shane's efforts will pay off with the Rangers. The Ranger's not only got a very fine hockey player but also a young man with great character. I have no doubt he will do very well there'
Shane's signing and being rostered by Kitchener is quite an accomplishment as he will not turn 16 until Nov. 16th of this year. In talking to Shane he said that the Rangers, the defending OHL champions "Are a great organization and he really is looking forward to playing for them. I will truly miss my teammates on the Stars but I look forward to the challenge of the OHL."
Coach Montagna went on to say ' Each player's path is his own to pursue and our coach's and I look at this as another Star's player who has moved on to the next level of hockey. That is what the Star's organization is all about. We wish Shane nothing but the best. This is like our first commitment in the month of August. We know we have many more players this year who will get their opportunities to play at the next level and we are really looking forward to this season and working with them.'
Shane is the son of Dan and Rita Prince of Spencerport, NY and has a sister younger sister Olivia.
ALL THE BEST WTH THE RANGERS!!!
Coach, Scott Montagna.
