Stars’ Wilson Commits To Clarkson University
Syracuse Stars’ forward Matt Wilson has committed to Clarkson University for the fall of 2009.
Wilson, who has 11 goals, 15 assists in 40 games, was very excited to make his decision. “Playing for Clarkson University has been a dream of mine ever since I can remember. Clarkson provides the best of both worlds with a historic hockey program and great academics. I want to thank the Clarkson coaching staff for giving me this opportunity to play for the Golden Knights. I also want to thank my coaches and teammates at the Syracuse Stars for helping me get to where I am today. Without them I don't think I'd be ready for college hockey. I'm looking forward to competing for a league and national championship with them," said Wilson.
“Matt is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever had the opportunity to coach,” said head coach Chris Firriolo. “His work ethic is second to none. He’s a very passionate young man who is constantly looking to improve and develop his game. He competes every shift, you know exactly what you’re going to get out of Matt each and every night. He’s done an outstanding job centering our second line all year long and has been one of our top penalty kill guys as well. I know this is a dream come true for Matt and I think he’s going to have a very bright future at Clarkson.”
Matt is the son of Steve and Karen Wilson of Liverpool, NY.
