Stars Tie And Win Against Falcons
The Syracuse Stars tied the New England Jr. Falcons 2-2 Saturday night and beat the Falcons on Sunday in overtime 4-3.
In Saturday’s game, the Falcons scored late in the first period to go a head 1-0. Syracuse’s Trevor Lewis scored the lone goal in the second period to tie it up at 1-1. The Stars went a head 2-1 in the third on Shane Prince’s goal, his first of the year, but with 10 seconds left the Falcons, who pulled their goaltender, scored to even it up at 2-2. The overtime went scoreless. Syracuse goaltender Chris Noonan stopped 33 shots.
After a scoreless first period on Sunday, the Falcons went a head 1-0 in the second period and scored again early in the third to go a head 2-0. Syracuse battled back on two Chris Cannizarro goals to even the game at 2-2. The Falcons scored again to go a head 3-2 before Syracuse’s Matt Wilson tied the game 3-3 late in the third period. Syracuse’s Dan Lassik sealed the win for the Stars scoring in overtime to give Syracuse a 4-3 win. Stars’ goaltender Chris Noonan stopped 33 shots.
Syracuse improves their record to 27-7-5-1 as they continue to lead the Eastern Junior Hockey League's Northern Division.
