Stars' Sweep Boston Jr.Shamrocks

Hockey ActionSyracuse came home after being on the road for a month straight and took two from the Boston Jr. Shamrocks 2-1 on Saturday and 4-2 on Sunday.

On Saturday Matt Wilson's goal with 3:11 left in the 3rd period proved to be the game winner as Syracuse squeaked past the Boston Jr. Shamrocks 2-1. Boston jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Reed Hersey's goal early in the 2nd period. Chris Cannizzaro scored the tying goal with 7:43 remaining in the game, just 7 seconds after serving a 2 minute hooking penalty. Shamrock's goaltender Joshua Roarke kept his team in the game making 50 saves. The Stars goaltender Chris Noonan picked up his 15th win while making just 9 saves.

On Sunday Syracuse had that déjà vu feeling as they edged the Boston Jr. Shamrocks 4-2. For the second straight game the Stars fell behind to the Shamrocks; this time by two goals. Goals from Ryan Kelly and Zeth Zielinski gave them a 2-0 lead with 7:08 left in the second period. Syracuse started their comeback when Rob Morton scored a power play goal with 3:55 left in the period. The third period was all Syracuse as they tied the game early on with Chris Cannizzaro picking up a power play goal at 2:43. Trevor Lewis' power play goal with 7:13 left in the game gave the Stars their first lead of the day. The final Star's goal was an empty net goal from Mark Zengerle with :35 seconds left.

Syracuse improves their record to 26-7-4-1 as they continue to lead the Eastern Junior Hockey League's Northern Division.
