Stars Win Three On The Road

Hockey ActionSyracuse, who went on the road this past weekend facing a very tough schedule against the Valley Jr. Warriors Friday Night and the Bay State Breakers Saturday and Sunday, came home with three big wins beating Valley 3-2 and the Bay State 2-0 and 1-0.

Friday nights contest was the 3rd game in a row Syracuse would face Valley on the road. Syracuse opened the scoring in the first on a goal by Matt Wilson. Valley answered back early in the second to tie it up 1-1. Syracuse went a head in the second on a goal by Jared Williams and took a two goal lead in the third on a Chris Cannizarro power play goal. Yet Valley found away to chip back to cut the lead down to 3-2 but it wasn’t enough as Syracuse goaltender Chris Noonan came up big down the stretch to hold off Valley and give Syracuse the 3-2 win.

On Saturday the Stars traveled to Bay State which would be the first of two great games that saw outstanding goaltending and two teams that battled head to head for 120 minutes.

In Saturday’s game Syracuse’s Rob Morton opened the scoring on a power play goal in the second period. Both teams faced great goaltending throughout the entire game and with Syracuse up 1-0 with a minute left Bay State pulled their goaltender in an attempt to tie it up before Syracuse’s Trevor Lewis found Dan Ford in open ice as Ford sealed the game on an empty net goal giving Syracuse the 2-0 victory. Syracuse’s Anthony Cadieux made his debut in net stopping 28 shots on route to his first shut out.

Sunday’s game saw tremendous goaltending again from both teams as the deciding factor was a lone Syracuse power play goal in the first period by Trevor Lewis which gave Syracuse the 1-0 win. Syracuse’s Chris Noonan was outstanding in net stopping 38 shots and picking up his third shut out of the season.

Syracuse remains at the top of the Northern Division with a 24-7-4-1 record.
