Streaking Stars (B) Sweep Elmira
The Stars (B) team started the New Year where the old one ended on a positive note by continuing their winning way. Travelling to Elmira with a two game winning streak, the Stars have won 5 out of their last 8 games.
Saturday’s game started out with an early lead on a power play goal from Jared Lehman at 4:52. The Jr. Jackals then took their only lead of the game as they scored the next two goals from Dan Edwards and Bobby Thomaris to take a 2-1 late in the first period. Dan Delzoppo’s goal with just under two minutes in the first period tied the game at 2-2 as the first period ended. Zack O’Mara tallied twice in the second period to give the Stars the 4-2 victory.
Sunday’s game began the same way as Saturday’s with the Stars taking the early lead on a goal from Bill Kent at 7:34 of the first period. The Jackals then took the lead on goals from Dan Edwards and former Star Zach Farrell. The Stars then scored five straight goals, two from Derrick Eccles, Dave McKie, and Devin Coon plus another one from Kent, to give them a commanding 6-2 lead. Bobby Thomaris scored in the middle of the third to make the final 6-3 in favor of the Stars.
The Stars B team and Stars A team both return home this weekend for the first time in over a month. The B team will host the Brewster Bulldogs and the A team will take on the Bay State Breakers.
