ATLANTA THRASHERS DRAFT FORMER SYRACUSE STAR IN NHL DRAFT
The Atlanta Trashers (NHL) with their third pick, 45th overall, selected former Syracuse Stars forward Jeremy Morin in the 2nd round of the 2009 NHL Player Draft. Morin, 18, from Auburn, NY has spent the last two seasons playing for USA Hockey Development team where he appeared in 46 games this past season with 26 goals and 22 assists for 48 points. He began his junior hockey career with the Stars (EJHL) back in 2006-07 where he had 26 goals and 28 assists for 54 points, 9th in the Eastern Junior League in scoring that season and was also named the league's Rookie-of-the-Year

FORMER STAR COHEN LEADS BU
TO HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP
Former Syracuse Stars Junior hockey defenseman Colby Cohen scored the game winning goal as the Boston University Terriers defeated the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks 4-3 in overtime to win the NCAA College Hockey Championship. He also won the tournament's Most Outstanding Player Award. Cohen, from Villanova, PA, played for the Stars during the 2004-05 season when the Stars were a member of the Ontario Provinicial Hockey League. The defenseman played in all 49 games for the Stars and had 7 goals and 21 assists for 28 points during that 2004-05 season. Following his season with the Stars he played for the USA Hockey's National under 18 team and the Lincoln Stars (USHL) before going to the Terriers.
